Zambia’s Kalaba ‘critical but stable’ after crash

Zambia’s midfielder Rainford Kalaba is in a critical but stable condition after being involved in a car crash on Tuesday. Kalaba, who plays for Congolese side TP Mazembe, was traveling back to Zambia when the incident occurred.

The 33-year-old was rushed to the hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. According to reports, Kalaba suffered multiple injuries, including a broken leg and several cuts and bruises. His condition is said to be critical but stable, and he is currently receiving treatment in the intensive care unit.

Kalaba’s club TP Mazembe released a statement saying, “Our thoughts and prayers are with Rainford Kalaba and his family at this difficult time. We are in constant contact with the medical team treating him and are monitoring his progress closely.”

The Zambia Football Federation also expressed its support for Kalaba, saying, “Our thoughts are with Rainford Kalaba and his family. We wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him back on the pitch soon.”

Kalaba is considered one of Zambia’s most talented players and has represented his country at the international level. He has also had a successful club career, winning numerous titles with TP Mazembe.
