Grandfather’s killer feigned mental illness – judge

A judge has ruled that the individual responsible for the death of a grandfather had feigned mental illness in an attempt to avoid responsibility for the crime.

The defendant, who was convicted of the murder, claimed to have a history of mental health issues that impacted their ability to understand the consequences of their actions.

However, after reviewing the evidence presented in court, the judge determined that the defendant had intentionally misled mental health professionals and law enforcement in order to manipulate the situation.

The judge stated that feigning mental illness in such a manner is deeply troubling and undermines the credibility of individuals who are genuinely struggling with mental health issues.

The defendant has been sentenced to the maximum penalty for the crime and will not be eligible for parole.
